19th Century Rules Reviews
Note, each set is accorded a value for money rating. 1 = terrible; 10 is extremely good - must have.
Positive Points
Very very good feel for the period. Results tend to mimic the history books. Makes generals think a bit too because orders can't be changed easily and so things can go wrong.
The fire system and the other rules are nice.
I like these rules!
Negative Points
The rules absolutely rely on loads of counters being placed and taken up each move. This is a sticking point and it happens every move.
There is no proper play sheet. What is provided is poor and has very important information missing. I had to go through the rules with a fine toothed comb and write my own play sheet. This took a long time (probably a whole day's work in total).
Easy to see why people give up on these rules as a result.
Overall Value for Money: 4 (but once you have a playsheet it is much better)
