CONFRONTATION

Positive Points

These are fairly detailed skirmish rules that use 5-20 miniatures on each side. A typical game of Confrontation will last a full evening, but gets straight into the action. Each model has a reference card listing its combat statistics and special abilities, and these are also used to determine turn order (alternate activation). The game is very tactical with many options for different army, card and model choices. The Confrontation range of miniatures is superb (but they’re not cheap!) and there’s a huge diversity of models to choose from.

Negative Points

The rules are translated from French which leads to some strange language terms, not making for easy reading. Although this is a very rewarding game to play, it has a steep learning curve. The rules themselves are not logically organised, and are spread over the main book and various cards that come with the models. This game would not work using models from other manufacturers. Building up a collection of these miniatures is very addictive and expensive!
